The increasing resistance of a lot of common viral, bacterial, and fungal infections prompted a need for new agents that could begin to bridge the gap to effective treatment of the increasing range of infections caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses. Due to that element, essential oils were good candidates since studies had already shown that individual essential oils, their properties, and aromatic compounds had antimicrobial activity against a wide range of pathogens with various spectrums of activity.
Several different blends were formulated to initiate and complete studies including Rosemary Oil (Rosmarinus officinalis), ,Eucalyptus Oil (Eucalyptus globulus), and Oregano Oil (Origanum vulgare) just to name a few. These blends were tested on fourteen different bacterial, viral, fungal and antibiotic resistant strains of E-Coli (Escherichia coli), Pnuemonia (Streptococcus pneumonia), Strep (Streptococcus pyogenes), Bacterium that causes Kidney Stones and UTIs (Proteus mirabilis), Salmonella (Salmonella typhimurium), H1N1, HSV1 and six different strains of Candida among a long list of others.
The results exhibited positive findings against all strains of fungi, virus and bacteria tested and were not surprising to the scientists who conducted those tests since those findings were consistent with other studies previously conducted using essential oils. Essential Oils have effects to live healthier and happier lives and treat ourselves and each other better. However, since those findings were not shared with the general public, I’m sure some of us WOULD find those findings surprising.
